Come Sunday, March 24th, Lagos will charge with awe and grandeur as Ebony Life TV boss, Mo Abudu, treats the coastal city to a never-to-be-forgotten high-octane party. The wedding invites have arrived and they are fetching and elegant. It’s pleasing to the eyes and emblematic of Mo’s extraordinary standards and persona. The card has an access card which makes it impossible for anyone to attend the event without invitation – this is surely bad news to party crashers.
Those who are privileged to have received it can’t stop gushing about its sheer beauty and novelty. Others say they can’t wait for the d-day when Temidayo Tinuola, the winsome daughter of the media and entertainment mogulette, officially gets married to her beau, Adebola Teslim, the son of Chief Oluremi Makanjuola, the chairman of Caverton Group.
The much-talked about invite for the traditional and engagement ceremonies came in two boxes; a gold-plated box which contained the aso-ebi, headgear and cap; and another floral box bearing the invite proper and dinner menu card. The event holds at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, from 4pm. The Abudus and Makanjuolas are prominent families with powerful friends across different segments of the society and beyond.
While the bride’s mother, Mosunmola, is the influential and globally-recognised CEO of Ebony Life TV, her father is Tokunbo Abudu, a prominent lawyer and businessman. The groom’s father, Chief Makanjuola, is one of the most enduring moneymen in Nigeria. A former banker, he established the Caverton Group to render logistics and environment support services to oil and gas producers in Nigeria, and support energy operations along the West African shelf.
The first leg of Temidayo and Adebola’s marital journey started when they got engaged in August 2018. This was followed by an Introduction (Writing-in) ceremony, which held Saturday, January 5th, 2019, in the country home of the bride’s paternal grandfather, Chief Olatunde Abudu, legal luminary and businessman, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The old man obviously had not forgotten how to put together a jaw-dropping party as he ensured that his in laws and their guests enjoyed the finest hospitality of the Abudus.
Thus, the invite is just a foretaste of how grand and glamorous the wedding would be. The couple will travel to the United States in June for their white wedding.
