PDP strongman, Chief Anenih’s son avoids creditor in scandalous debt mess
Creditor vows to block his house with bulldozer to recover money
By Tope Benson
A small debt makes a man your debtor, a large one makes him your enemy. Little wonder Tony Anenih (Jnr.) has begun to avoid the man he allegedly owes N40 million like a deadly foe and plague. The latter who simply identified himself as ‘Richie,’ has however, vowed to make life unbearable for Tony (Jnr), son of former Minister of Works and People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman, Chief Anthony Anenih. Miffed by Tony’s avoidance of him, Richie is determined to retrieve his N40 million from Tony early this week by blocking his Ikoyi residence with a bull dozer. It would be recalled that Tony’s father recently resigned as the chairman of PDP’s board of trustees; given his immense clout, wealth and intimidating political and business connections, not a few people are astounded by the fact that his son could be caught in a scandalous debt mess. Is it that Chief Anenih has refused to assist his son with necessary business and political connections, like most of his contemporaries do? Or is it that he did support Tony (Jnr.), the latter was simply too clueless to seize advantage of the opportunities given him? Whatever the case, the former BOT chairman of the PDP needs to wade in the crisis brewing between his son and his creditor, Richie, before it spirals into a sludge-fest and juicy gossip for muckrakers.
