– Why Skymit Motors head honcho wants a modest celebration
True wisdom comes not from a moment’s eloquence nor does it emanate from any happily chosen word, but from the accumulation of a lifetime’s thoughts and experiences stored up in the psyche. It involves shunning noise and razzmatazz of the social arena and celebrity acclaim for the simplicity of a modest life.
There is no gainsaying Tayo Ayeni is gifted with wisdom of the ancients.
The boss of Skymit Motors does not live for the glitter and noise of the celebrity arena hence his decision to embrace modesty and celebrate his birthday on a low profile this year.
When Tayo clocks 55 on Thursday, he would not roll out the drums. Gone, for him, were the madcap years of letting expensive cognacs and champagnes flow like a rivulet in beautiful home in Lagos; or setting sail on a yacht for different territorial waters with stops in the party cities of the world.
Unlike several magnates and socialites of his status, Ayeni will scorn the lure of a lavish party with high society on December 28, his birthday, to mingle and feast with the less privileged. The auto magnate intends to spend quality time with impoverished segments of the society and thereby improve their fortune by impacting positively in their lives in cash and kind.
This is no doubt a departure from the norm for the hardworking auto magnate who is notable for throwing classy, high octane parties in celebration of his birthday, every year.
Findings revealed that the boss of Skymit Motors planned the low-key anniversary with his wife, Tutu, who is fully in support of his decision to help and honour the needy. The couple allegedly decided to show compassion to people in need, particularly in these hard times. The celebrant’s decision was borne of a conscious need to identify with people’s pains and contribute his quota to the alleviation of widespread poverty in the society.
Thus there would be no champagne popping or anything like that this year as Ayeni clocks another year. He would be content to simply spend time with the needy and also spend a quiet time with God and thank Him for all he has done in his life.
