- Project brings succour to long-suffering commune
It’s pouring now in Ogun State. It’s raining prospects and perks. The sweet nectar of abundance spreads across the state, like grains of the couscos shared for the Persian prince’s soiree.
Great thanks to Governor Dapo Abiodun, the state may ascend the ladder of development from the chasm and quicksand of neglect that had been its abode throughout the tenure of the immediate past governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun.
At Governor Abiodun’s directive, the state’s Ministry of Works has commenced rehabilitation works on the 32km Sango-Ojodu-Abiodun road.
The stretch was one of the roads which was awarded to contractors by Amosun’s administration but it was abandoned by the contractors.
Consequently, socio-economic activities had been adversely affected along the axis; the contractors who signed on to work on the roads abandoned the project, citing inadequate funding. On its part, Amosun’s government also cited paucity of funds as its reason for neglecting the road.
The road which spans various border communities between Lagos and Ogun States had been in very bad state until Governor Abiodun breathed a life on to the stretch courtesy his approval of rehabilitation works.
Few days ago, the governor directed that immediate palliative measures should begin on the road.
Predictably, his decision was well received and applauded; it has brought succour to the lives of the people living along the axis likewise frequent travelers on the road.
The Governor had also promised that the road remains one of his top priorities as soon as the rainy season is over.
Governor Abiodun promised to ensure the completion of the road project which according to him had undergone over 300 percent variation in its cost of construction during the past administration.
Residents along the road have commended the Governor for coming to their aid, appealing to him that the road should be completed after the rainy season.
