Tell it not in Gath, proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistines be glad, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised rejoice (2 Samuel 1:20)
Abel Damina, the Senior Pastor of Power City International, Uyo, the founder and president of Abel Damina Ministries. He is also the chief executive officer of Kingdom Life Network, a satellite TV channel.
He has become synonymous with teachings mostly considered heretic among the Christian folk. This is not for nothing, as Damina has elected to prance about social media platforms, spewing all manner of half-truths against Christian doctrines.…CONTINUE READING
While Damina revels in the accolades of perishing humanity, souls that could have been won for the Kingdom are tumbling to hell, by his prodding and encouragement.
I may not worry so much about his irreverent attacks on some revered elders like Pa Enoch Adeboye, and Bishop David Oyedepo because a person like him could not be expected to do otherwise. It is always in the character of those doing ‘the work of their father’ to target prize individuals to attack.
However, sadly for him, Damina has failed to achieve any modicum of success in his feeble scratching, except for the seeming gains for the kingdom of darkness he may have inadvertently become its recruit. I don’t speak for Adeboye or Oyedepo; they can speak for themselves and have media spokespersons who could do that.
So, what’s my own?
Well, I am a concerned Christian whose salvation is threatened by Damina’s brashness. I confess that sometimes I get tempted to believe him but after crosschecking the scriptures, I get convinced that this man is on a mission for the devil. How many people would do like the Berean Christians and interrogate Damina’s rubbish delivered with so much flourish? If they did, they would realise that this man has boarded a bus to some obscure island and is looking for people to travel the route with him.
Methinks Damina is a victim of hallucinations. That often leads him to sensationalism and generalisation (there are indeed a few bad eggs as always); his conjectures lack depth or substance. The cleric’s seductive presentation of half-truths is misleading many people and putting a wedge in the way of seekers of the Truth.
Unfortunately, superfluous romanticism of falsehood excites a world prone to evil, which mistakes foolhardiness for bravado. Damina’s loquacious eloquence, stagecraft, and affected oratorical prowess are all embellishments of the devil to draw gullible feeble minds away. His recalcitrance and his combative messages are not helping the church, as it is evident that he is breeding a misinformed, intolerant crop of Christians, who are so touchy they would not brook any criticism of their master.
It is captivating to hear his radical messages against tithing and the existence of heaven. Many get titillated to hear that you don’t need God to succeed and that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was not a virgin and did not give birth to Him. He also teaches that Holy Communion is a useless ritual; Adam and Eve did not eat any fruit in the Garden of Eden, leading to their fall; God did not tell Noah to build an ark, contrary to the biblical account in Genesis 6:13-22 and copious biblical backings.
The most brazen of his teachings is that sin does not condemn anyone to hell; grace covers you once you are saved, regardless of your lifestyle. Damina claimed that Jesus did not ascend to heaven and is not coming again, which is at variance with Acts 1:11. According to him, the angels who assured the disciples of his ascension and second coming were ignorant and still learning the Truth from believers in Christ. So, in this spooky gospel according to Damina, he teaches both man and angels.
The Akwa Ibom-based pastor believes that there is no hell, which he describes simply as a place of utter darkness, and that there is no fire there anyway. He holds that God does not destroy, despite the biblical records of God destroying people for their sins (reference, Sodom and Gomorrah, and Noah’s world).
Damina supports masturbation, smoking, and drinking alcohol. His prescription of listening to Bible teachings as a solution to addiction to pornography is weird. So, it is either Damina is questioning the Bible or he has a different Bible or believes only selectively.
Damina confessed to being the ‘baba’ of prosperity message for 40 years and could collect money even from the devil before he repented. However, we also know that repentance is often followed by restitution. So far, he has yet to reveal how many of those he misled or defrauded or how much of the tithe he has restituted.
The preacher claimed that he discovered Christ was the missing link in his life, preached grace for 30 days, and became fulfilled. Again, congratulations.
However, I boldly say the link is still missing, and the gulf has grown wider because he is preaching an unknown grace. Grace is an enablement to avoid sin, but for Damina, grace is a licence to sin.
The body is the temple of the Holy Ghost but Damina encourages alcoholics and smokers to defile God’s temple. Ironically, he also admitted that such habits are inimical to one’s life. However, God owns the life. It is strange that this showman, who seems righteous and confused at the same time, is encouraging people to destroy a life they did not create.
He manifests streaks of envy and jealousy. He seems embittered for being stranded at a barren bus stop while his mates moved on, leaving him frustrated and desperate. That explains his penchant for attacking high-heeled ministers.
Damina has shredded fundamental planks of the Christian faith but has not been bold enough to declare his mission.
It is more reasonable to preach salvation and allow God to deal with the ‘fake’ pastors he has elected to expose. What is this noise about tithe and offering? Does he not know that everybody would be judged on personal merit and not by their titles and tithes?
Has Damina ever approached these gentlemen directly or by whatever communication to point out any noticeable error in their sermons as commanded by God rather than revel in public exultation? Damina’s publications on the streets of infamy in defiance of God’s injunction make the daughters of the uncircumcised Philistines mock the church.
His fallacious preachment is attractive to his befuddled audience like the gragra of an undercover flyweight challenging a heavyweight pugilist. He can NEVER prevail against the gates of the church of Christ that is marching sturdily on.
I have never read or heard anywhere that the men he is castigating claimed to be perfect. The church is only populated by sinful human beings becoming saints, not angels, and has no saints. But Damina sees himself as the only angel. There is no problem with that, but he should stop intimidating the rest still pressing towards the mark. let him rather proceed to man the gate of heaven where he would determine who qualifies to enter therein.
People who know Damina’s faulty foundation have told woeful tales about him and are not convinced of his discipleship. He used to believe the tithe was all his, but after reaping the consequences of the abysmally, erroneous belief, he began preaching spurious sermons. His moral and integrity credentials have also come into question, hence his resort to ‘once saved, saved forever’ hogwash.
Every minister’s core mandate is to preach Jesus Christ crucified. Every Christian is directed to go into the world and make disciples of men. Mark 16:15-16. However, Damina has gone into the world to pull down others, discouraging the gullible from embracing salvation.
Damina, at best, is a successful YouTuber rather than a man of God or, maybe, he belongs to the class of ‘dog of man’, who preys on the souls of men for pecuniary reasons. Always eager to draw people to watch his YouTube videos, Damina is undeniably guilty of cyberbullying the church of Christ through his social media enterprises and quest for a large following. It is heart-wrenching that a pastor’s son could be notoriously disdainful and disrespectful of the Christian elders, and a willing captive in Satan’s last days’ army. Beware!
Please, pray for him.
