There is something fishy about John Odigie-Oyegun. The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) meanders the dangerous currents of cut-throat politics like a trout. It would have been better if he does so like an eel – at least, he could wade deep brandishing electric current as his protective shield.
All Oyegun flaunts is his whim and an empty cheek. Yet he carries on like the odds were made to his bidding. According to the publisher of TheCable, “If Nigeria was a country where people are courageous enough to assert their rights, the 26 DGs removed last week by President Muhammadu Buhari would have made a few millions in a libel suit against Chief John Oyegun, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Oyegun, who says strange things these days, alleged that the DGs were removed for sabotaging Buhari, whereas it is common knowledge that change of chief executives is a routine under new governments, including at state levels. In fact, Buhari kept Jonathan’s appointees for too long. Appointing new ones hardly ever has anything to do with sabotage”.
It is about time Oyegun began to display necessary tact, wisdom and transparency required of a man in his position. Oyegun at the moment, hardly presents as a party chairman with mature and national outlook; basically, he is seen as a chairman of a group or cabal spoiling to seize control of the APC leadership and structure
