- Senior citizens laud governor’s progressive plans
True wisdom, it is often said, comes not from a moment’s eloquence nor from any happily chosen word, but from the accumulation of a lifetime’s experience stored up in the eyes. If this connotes the true essence of sapience, Dapo Abiodun personifies the best of traits.
The Executive Governor of Ogun State has a thousand charms to show, and he internalises a great deal more hence his growing appeal across social and political circuits of the Gateway State.
Deploying tact and soft language of the ancients, Abiodun ignites a cosmic-historical process of change in Ogun State.
Watching him from a distance is lifting; upclose, the governor exudes immeasurable depth and vision. Seeing him actualise ihs blueprint of hope and progress in the state, even the sages are smitten.
There is no gainsaying Governor Abiodun attracts support, cooperation and allegiance from major stakeholders in the state; just recently, he received a vote of confidence from the senior citizens of the state.
Yesterday, the Ogun State Elders Consultative Forum (ECF) led by its Coordinator, Chief Taiwo Alimi, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Abiodun and applauded his government for the setting up of committees to look into the numerous issues affecting the state.
During the visit to Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the elders said they were with Governor Abiodun, praising his holistic approach in tackling the hydra headed challenges bedevilling the development of the state.
Commending him for engaging in wide consultation with various stakeholders of the state, the elders admonished him to continue his all-embracing model of governance, which they said they expected to reflect when he eventually forms his cabinet.
“You have demonstrated a communal and humble spirit by reaching out to all and sundry. You have what is lacking in many political figures in the state and this inspires confidence in us all.
“We have no doubt that you would excel and take Ogun State to an enviable height and position her to her rightful place at the top among the states in Nigeria,” the Forum said in a statement.
Furthermore, the Elders’ Forum pleaded with Governor Abiodun to ensure equitable distribution of the state’s wealth and social amenities.
In his reaction to their visit, Governor Abiodun expressed his profound appreciations to the elders for the commendation. “You, the elders say ‘He who heeds the advice of the elderly, stands of their shoulders.’
“I know the significance of having you as formidable support structure. I feel highly honoured and more than willing to continuously tap from the wealth of knowledge and experience of our revered elders to reposition the economy, education and other sectors to benefit our people,” Governor Abiodun said.
Governor Abiodun promised to be fair and just in his distribution of Ogun State resources and amenities and assured that no area or people would be deprived of what is due them.
The Forum has prominent elders like the former World Court judge, Justice Bola Ajibola, who is Chairman of the Forum; Olorogun (Dr) Sonny Kuku and others as members, all of whom have dedicated themselves to the voluntary service of Ogun State and Nigeria in general.
