Dasuki is a sinking man in a deadly ditch. He stretches his hands for safety; but while he does that, he pulls whoever’s hand he grabs to the ditch and the ditch is filled with many a rescuer who also stretch their hands for safety and they keep pulling other rescuers into the ditch. The ditch is filled up and they all sink deeper and deeper into the abyss.
The 2.1 billion dollar arms scandal has been a revelation that has continued gnaw many Nigerians. Many Nigerians are baffled at the ludicrous disbursement of money that was supposed to have been expended on arm purchase, to private political individuals by the ex NSA, Sambo Dasuki.
It has however become clear why President Buhari, on his inception, first beamed his searchlight on the ex NSA. Dasuki was first given house arrest as he was not allowed to make any travelling. During this time, many people cried foul, accusing Buhari of taking revenge of what Dasuki did to him when he was imprisoned after his government was overthrown in 1984. But little did many Nigerians know that there was much to Dasuki’s incarceration than met the eyes. It was later learnt that while Dasuki was being confined in his Abuja residence, evidences were being gathered against him by the government. After gathering enough evidences, he was arrested and charged to court.
Ever since the commencement of Dasuki’s trial in court, like a threatened jailbait, he has continued to let the cats out of the bags, thus implicating high profiled politicians in the nation. So far, popular names such as Raymond Dokpesi, Bashir Yuguda, Attahiru Bafarawa, Peter Odili, Bode George, Shuaibu Salisu, Emir Sanusi Lamido and President Buhari himself have been implicated by Dasuki’s confession
Each of these people have continued to release press statement trying to exonerate themselves as they distance themselves from Dasuki. Peter Odili has denied that he did not receive N100 million from Dasuki but from PDP; Bode George said he only received $30,000 from Dasuki, not N100 million; Dokpesi said the 2billion he received from Dasuki was for the party’s publicity; Bafarawa said the billions he received was meant for spiritual purposes; Emir Sanisu said he never donated any money to Dasuki; and President Buhari stated that he never received $300,000 from Dasuki but 2 SUVs that was due to him as a retired Head of States.
The involvement of President Buhari in this scandal as continued to generate controversy, especially in the social media. While some people are blaming him for receiving the SUVs from Dasuki, those in his defense think the president has not compromised by collecting the SUVs because they were due to him as a former head of a state. According to the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, clarified that the SUVs were given to him after his car was allegedly ambushed by some terrorists last year.
Many people believe that Dasuki is on for a kamikaze trip as he is ready to pull down anybody into the ditch he has found itself.
