When names of pioneering stand-up comedians are being mentioned is Nigeria, Julius Agwu, the rib-cracking veteran comedian, readily comes to mind. He has graced many stages to lighten up the mood; no doubt, he was created by God to make people laugh.
Julius Agwu was one of many Nigerian celebrities that switched from being entertainers to politicians last year . He declared his intention to contest the governorship election in his state, Rivers State. during the 2015 general election. According to him, he wanted to continue the good works Governor Amaechi has started and eliminate the staggering poverty in the state. But that dream did not go far as the River’s state Governorship aspirant, Julius Agwu stepped down from the race, reason being that the former Governor, Amaechi ,and the aspiring Governor, Julius Agwu, are both from the same hometown.
Perhaps the veteran comedian has had a change of mind in his political venture as he recently confessed that he will never participate in politics again, stating that “Nigeria is in a serious mess”.
However, many expected the former governorship aspirant to be optimistic about of the country by proffering better solution on how things will go better rather than giving up his dreams of participating in political post in the Country. It seems the ace comedian has given up hopes on diverging into politics and has resolved to continue in his comedy job and strictly entertainment.
