Damina’s challenge has thrown the spotlight back onto one of the most hotly contested issues in the modern church, and his call for a return to biblical clarity on giving has once again set the stage for a fierce theological battle that will undoubtedly have lasting repercussions across the Christian world
Abel Damina has once again taken aim at Pastor Adeboye’s long-standing teachings on tithing, but this time, his response carried an even sharper edge as he delivered a scathing correction during a recent sermon.
The latest clash erupted after Adeboye issued a public apology for his previous controversial remark that non-tithers would be barred from heaven, a statement that had already drawn fierce criticism from Damina and others in the Christian community
While Adeboye’s apology seemed to offer a moment of reflection, it was short-lived. In the same breath, he doubled down on his beliefs about tithing, made yet another bold claim that struck a nerve with Damina.…CONTINUE READING
Dr. Abel Damina, the outspoken Founder and President of Abel Damina Ministries International (ADMI), has once again reignited the ongoing theological war with Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
This time, Damina didn’t hold back as he tore into Adeboye’s recent statements on tithing, boldly asserting that the revered pastor doesn’t even understand the fundamental meaning of the word ‘tithe’.
The controversy began to simmer when Adeboye, in a viral sermon, apologized for a previous inflammatory statement in which he claimed that Christians who fail to pay their tithes would not make it to heaven.
That remark sparked a wave of criticism, with Damina and other prominent pastors challenging the notion that tithing is tied to salvation. But just as it seemed the storm was beginning to calm, Adeboye, in a striking twist, made yet another controversial claim.
He stated that limiting church members to giving just 10% of their income as tithe is wrong, suggesting instead that committed Christians should pay up to 20% or even 30%. Adeboye went further to claim that the 10% rule is only for “beginners”.
Damina, known for his fiery rebuttals and uncompromising approach to doctrinal issues, was not about to let Adeboye’s claims slide. In a blistering new sermon, he launched a direct and scathing attack on Adeboye’s interpretation of tithing, delivering a sharp and thorough breakdown of what he sees as the deep flaws in Adeboye’s understanding.
Abel Damina argued that tithing, by biblical definition, is the giving of one-tenth (10%) of one’s earnings to God. He stressed that this is a clear-cut principle, established in Scripture, and anything beyond that 10% is no longer tithing but simply a voluntary act of giving, which, while commendable, should not be confused with the tithe itself.
Taking it a step further, Damina dismantled Adeboye’s suggestion that Christians should give more than 10%, calling it a distortion of the biblical text and an attempt to heap unnecessary burdens on the backs of believers. He passionately contended that Adeboye’s teaching represents a system where Christians are pressured to give under compulsion, motivated by fear of missing out on heaven or divine blessings.
According to Damina, the very essence of giving has been corrupted by these doctrines.
Why wash all the dirty lines in public? Is there no biblical way fir brethren to resolve simple misunderstanding of doctrinal issues? The ping-pong is apparently becomung an ego tusle.Pleasr find a way to end it and meet to iron out and streamline differences as elders/leaders away from social media
The Law is clear about tithing as tenth of agricultural and livestock produces full stop. The scripture is also clear about fake Prophets and fake Teachers. Baba Adeboye and his likes without any reservation might have started well they have long derail from the path of the faith and the gospel. All of 2 Peter 2 and Jude is clear.
Matt 23:23 clearly made it clear that Jesus did not OVERRULE TITHE PAYMENT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH.Am not replying anyone but on d side of the truth as God’s servant.Matt.23.23 – Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other(tithe things they were collecting) undone. That for me put to finality all unnecessary back and forth on tithe
You lack well interpretation of that Matthew 23:23. It simply means if you are able to keep the law dont just stop in tithe. A lot is there to do like judgement, mercy, faith and all other part of the law. Remember, matter 13 said I to miss one jot of the law you are the least in heaven but if you can keep all ye we go you are the the greatest. Something is between keep all the laws and missing some and that is all we need to follow that I Grace
Why all these tussles about tithe? Why Christian leaders need to behave like toddlers? Why are they ridiculing one another, what for?
If any pastor or G.O says anything you don’t agree with, say your own the way you think the bible interprets it. Church members are not fools, majority are bible scholars, they may decide to pay 10% or more as tithe depending on their convictions about who they are dealing with ,which is God Almighty who rewards not with 10% but in more glorious ways than what you offered as tithe.
Stop pulling down one another in the presence of unbelievers. Nobody knows all except God. Let everyone goes on his own path and stop all these ridiculous utterances.
I think Abel Damian should concentrate on his God-given ministry and shun criticisms… Every messenger should have a message and not this needless attacks on others’ messages. My submission is, this race is personal, run it with fear and trembling. Do a personal study of God’s word, hold on to the truth and work with it. Keep looking unto Jesus(and not preachers) the author and the finished of our faith.
Are you saying that when falsehoods are preached from the alters such shall not be corrected?
It could be that God has commissioned Dr Abel Damina to sanitize the Church and to expose these modern day Pharecees and Sadducees who has polluted the temples of God.
The way this things are going one can even give up on the church but thankfully to God for the bible which gives better understanding of our Lord Jesus message of truth our brother Paul said in Philippines 3 I count all things lost to gain christ an if u read downwards he said not that he has attained partfection so if our brother Paul could say all this after all God has use him to accomplished in the ministry. Why not us remain humble and watch out for ourselves least fall comes.
Pastor Adeboye should Honourable retire and leave this issues of tithe to the younger pastors. Education and passion for the bible have opened the eyes of many people to the doctrines in the bible. He should not allow young pastors who are well knowledgeable to insult him on minor doctrinal issues known to many people. Incase the pastor(Adeboye) is unaware there many wrong statements he had made which he needed to apologize to the world and God Almighty.
