2022 Adire Street Culture Carnival Revolution Holds June and July Ending Says Lady of Africa Foundation

The Lady of Africa Empowerment and advocacy Foundation in conjunction with Proclips Media Communication, has fixed the 2022 June and July for the much awaited Adire Street Culture Carnival.

This was disclosed in a press release signed by the President of Lady of Africa Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation, Princess Oluwabukola Fasuyi the convener of the annual event.

The carnival which is to be held at the five Divisions of Lagos State, including Lagos lsland, lkeja, Badagry, Ikorodu and Epe is to promote tourism in Lagos as well as promote the wearing of Adire, a popular local fabric, among Nigerians.

“Yearly, millions of people around the globe attend the Notting Hill carnival in the United Kingdom and we believe that like that popular carnival Adire Street Culture Carnival will be a good opportunity to showcase our traditional arts and crafts embellished in the Adire Culture thereby promoting our culture,” the release read in part.

The release further contended that as a country globally recognized for her rich culture and diverse tradition, Nigeria boasts of an incredible array of fashion choices and fabrics. Notable amongst these fabrics is the Adire’ which has found favor amongst people all over the continent of Africa and as far Europe, America, Canada and Asia.

The Carnival has lined up a number of activities including the display of various traditional cuisines including bush meat, local beverages like palm wine, board game (Ayo) and music from various local genres. An so on the foundation will also be taking Adire promotion to major cities in south west’ west Africa, South Africa’ Europe , Canada and America to satisfy the craving of lover of Adire fabrics in those part of the world.

The organizers also plan to raise 25,000 new Adire makers and marketers annually from the swelling ranks of the indigent and the downtrodden as part of their contribution to the growth of the Small and Medium scale industry in Nigeria.

Several notable personalities in the media, entertainment and business sectors have thrown their weight behind the carnival and endorsed it as ambassadors.

They include Publisher of Metro News, Mr. Femi Davies, ‘Managing Director, Nigerian Xpress Newspaper, Mr. Steve Nwosu, Publisher, Gaskiya Magazine, Mr. Dare Babarinsa, Publisher, City People Magazine, Mr. Seye Kehinde, a popular columnist and Director, The Nation newspaper, Mr. Kunle Abimbola, popular Islamic Cleric , Sheikh Alfulanny ‘ Olanrewaju, popular Christian pastor Go Fashawe an editor with Nation newspaper, Gboyega Alaka, Taofeek Ojutole, President, Global Quest troupe Mrs Laide Gold, a Art Editor for the Nation Paper Ozolua Uhakheme, Editor of foremost Yoruba newspaper Gbelegbo Mr Shina fadare President, Kromax Paints, Mr. Kunle ‘ MD of proclips media communication limited lsmaieel odulana’ , MD of Oshodi gallery Mr. Seyi Paul, a reputable property developer Selovian company ‘ Honourable Isiaka Bamidele Alao founder lBAT

Others are popular Nollywood actor, Mr. Don Richard, a renowned stage actor, Segun Adefila, President , Nigeria chapter, African Diaspora Ancestral Commemoration Institute, ADACI, Chief Fakunle Oyesanya, popular music promoter and owner of United Kingdom based Infinity promotion, Mr. Taye Fashina. popular musician, Bidemi Bright, President, Yoruba Liberation Movement, Bisi OmoOlubadan. and ace presenter, Tope Afolabi, among others.

The Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy foundation thus invites the various stakeholders across Nigeria and beyond to support the Carnival as the Foundation hopes to empower about 50,000 Nigeria women and youth through the various activities the carnival.
