The year 2024 is gradually coming to an end with a myriad of unmet expectations, including those fueled by prophetic utterances, visions and prophecies by Christian clerics.
In Nigeria, the worsening nation’s economy which took a bad turn in May 2023 caught the attention of many notable Christian leaders who unmistakably foretold harsher times in the outgoing year.

He, however, predicted that the situation would ease off after the initial hardship.
“Things will get worse before it gets better in 2024,” Adeboye had succinctly said.
But barely two weeks to the end of the year many Nigerians are yet to heave a sigh of relief from the economic hardship as predicted by the revered man of God.
However, at the global level, Pastor Adeboye foretold major medical breakthroughs ‘in places that are hot’.
“There will be divine intervention in those places that are hot. There would be quite medical breakthroughs in areas like cancer, asthma, hypertension, and sugar diabetes,” Pastor Adeboye had declared as part of his prophecies for the year.
In what could be viewed as the fulfilment of this prophecy, medical scientists made some exciting discoveries which further give hope on some debilitating health challenges to their patients. These discoveries include the replacement of heart valves that continue to grow, transplant of organs from pigs to humans, a blood test to detect Alzheimer’s disease, among others.
On his part, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, correctly gave a revelation similar to Adeboye’s prediction concerning the nation’s economy when he foretold that the country’s economy would be hard to revive, predicating his prediction on weak Naira to dollar rate.
According to him, “the spirit of God says the Nigeria economy needs a lot of prayers for it to be revived. The economic policies need to be well moderated and coordinated in order to achieve the desired results. I foresee that under the current realities, the CFA will be stronger than the Naira.
Also, the Dollar to Naira will rise to N1,400 and this will shake the economy so badly. There are forces that are hell-bent at frustrating the Tinubu-led Federal Government, but they will not be successful. The spirit of God says those who are scheming to frustrate it are people that he is closer to.
“Furthermore, I foresee the Nigerian economy will fluctuate, it will be unstable and inflation rate will rise astronomically. The economy will crash to very low levels despite the fact the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Government will be working to find a way forward. I have not seen anything better; the future looks gloomy.” Ayodele foretold.
Apart from the economy, Primate Ayodele also warned the Governors’ Forum to pray against bereavement, saying, “the spirit of God says we need to pray fervently so that the Governors’ Forum will not be bereaved. Let us pray so that the governors will not be getting confused or that the governors will not be trading words with themselves.”
This prophecy came to pass with the deaths of the former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and the wife of Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Mrs Patience Eno.
Ayodele also warned the nation’s lawmakers to pray against the death of their colleagues in the year in which the passage of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah shocked the National Assembly members.
Other major prophecies by Primate Ayodele that came to pass include his prediction on the the impeachment of former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu; the merger in the banking industry, which saw the CBN’s approval of the merger between Unity Bank and Providus Bank in August 2024; the defeat of the People’s Democratic Party at the end of the last gubernatorial election in Edo State, among others.
Like most pastors, Prophet Joshua Iginla, founder and senior pastor of the Champions Royal Assembly, released a disturbing prediction on the nation’s economy in 2024, but foretold a relief in 2025.
“In 2024, the economy of Nigeria will go through tough times. We will experience real changes in 2025. The incumbent government will try its best, but the prevailing factors will overwhelm them. It will look like what they know how to do, but can’t do it. This government is like a Saul to prepare the best level of where we are going, especially between 2024 and 2031.
“This government will try, but will battle the war of disgruntled politicians on unsettled political promises. There’s going to be crab movement between now and 2026 with lions trying to eat each other,” he revealed.
As much as many will concede that Prophet Iginla got his predictions for 2024 right, Nigerians are eagerly looking forward to the fulfilment of the second part of this prophecy in 2025.
On the other hand, contrary to the rumour over the failing health of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before his election in 2023, the president has shown that he is healthy and fit to lead the country since he came to power.
And lack of major adverse health reports about the president in the outgoing year seems to puncture the cleric’s prediction on the possibility of the president experiencing medical emergencies in the outgoing year.
“President Tinubu should focus on his health to prevent medical emergencies twice. We pray God’s agenda for him will come to pass.
Tinubu meant well, but he should be careful of those he relies on as I see faithful people becoming unfaithful and betrayers. Friends before can become an enemy today,” Prophet Iginla had foretold.
The clerics who predicted a defeat for the American President-elect, Donald Trump at the last month election must still be smarting from their gaffe.
The Republican Party candidate won the hotly contested election contrary to the widespread predictions by many Christian clerics who foretold his defeat to Kamala Harris of The Democratic Party.
The party of shame which follows the prophetic misadventures of these clerics conspicuously excluded Prophet Wale Olagunju, presiding Bishop of Seed of God Chapel Ministry Sasa, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The popular Ibadan-based cleric was audacious in his prediction as he unequivocally foretold the return of Donald Trump to power four years after he was ousted by the incumbent President, Joe Biden.
His prediction stridently picked the Republican Party and his standard bearer ahead of Democratic Party’s candidate.
His words: “The living God says that President Donald Trump is a candidate to beat in the USA 2024 presidential election. With little prayer Donald Trump would win the election.”
In fulfilment of his prophecy, Trump swept to a decisive victory last month after winning several crucial battleground states. And in a month time, the 45th president of the United States will become the 47th at an inauguration at the US Capitol.
The coming to pass of Olagunju’s prophecy on Trump’s return to power underscores the Ibadan-based man of God’s unwavering prophetic gift in an uncommon way as underscored by the predictions of many Christian clerics in Nigeria and other parts of the world. While most of the prophecies came with a tone of probability on the outcome of the poll, Olagunju was emphatic in giving outright victory to Trump.
The founder and General Overseer of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo’s prophecies for the year 2024 were considered by many as prophetic utterances for members of his church rather than for the nation or the world at large. Oyedepo, who noted that 2024 would be a year of fearful favour, declared the outgoing year as “Isaac-order of year”, a biblical allusion for bountiful harvest.
“God will bring every winner from obscurity into the limelight.
“It shall mark the end of misfortune in your life!
“It shall be your Isaac-order of year; your year of enviable turnaround!
“It shall be your year of spiritual breakthrough that will set the pace for other breakthroughs in your life!
“It shall be your year of unchecked enlargement!
“You shall be satisfied with favour and fulfilled with the blessing of the Lord all through 2024!
“Every winner that will care to maintain a walk with God shall dip his foot in oil!
