This acknowledgment sharply contradicts Amaechi’s recent claims on Arise News, where he distanced himself from Wike’s political rise. Amaechi had stated, “I wanted him as chief of staff so I could supervise him. I didn’t offer him commissioner for finance,” and further remarked, “You know, he made himself chief of staff. He made himself governor. He made himself minister.”
These comments followed a tweet by Lere Olayinka questioning Amaechi’s narrative, noting that Fred Kpakol served as Finance Commissioner under Wike’s administration, implying Amaechi’s involvement.
