Mischief follows the privileged like a gust of bad breeze hence in saner society circles, no one may believe the malicious gossip currently being circulated about former Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Kingsley Kuku.
Rabble rousers are claiming that Kuku has fled the country totally in his desperate bid to escape prosecution over several corruption charges leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They are alleging that contrary to Kuku’s claims that he travelled to the United States (US) to undergo a knee surgery, he actually fled the country and the long arms of the law, on the pretext of health tourism abroad.
Recently, they claimed that Kuku relocated from the US to Ghana when it became clear to him that the US security agencies were collaborating with the Nigerian government to deport Kuku in order to make him face the corruption charges issued against him by the Nigerian government.
It is alleged that Kuku, who recently underwent a serious knee surgery at the Andrews Sport, Medicine and Orthopedic center in Alabama has fled US to a better refuge in Ghana. However, sources close to Kuku have dismissed their allegations as figment of their wild imagination. According to them, Kuku can’t be in Ghana while he is still recuperating. According to them, since Kuku completed his knee surgery successfully, he has been taking things easy as he copes with recuperation in the US.
Yet rumour mongers insist that Kuku, who recently declared his intention to run for the Ondo State gubernatorial seat, has relocated to Ghana with his wife and children and has abandoned his gubernatorial dreams.
Kuku allegedly fled the country after it was announced that he was wanted by the EFCC for alleged embezzlement, theft and fraud running into millions of dollars.
