Anambra poll: Ekwueme dumps Obiano, backs Obaze

A former Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, on Wednesday endorsed the candidacy of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, in the November 18 poll in the state.

Before this new development, Ekwueme was a known supporter of Governor Willie Obiano.

But on Wednesday, he said time had come to unseat Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and enthrone a PDP government in the state.

He said, “Anambra State is a PDP state from inception. We shall now continue with the PDP. Time has come for us to take away power from APGA.”

While addressing PDP faithful on Wednesday in his family house at Oko, Orumba North local Government Area of the state, the former Vice-President whose first daughter, Chidi Onyemelukwe, is a running mate to Obaze in governorship race, insisted that APGA’s tenure in the state would end in the November 18 poll in the state.

In his speech, a former governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi, described Obiano’s performance as ‘provocatively abysmal.’

In his speech, Obaze hailed Ekwueme for his roles in the enthronement of democracy in the country in 1999.

He assured the people of simultaneous development of the state.
