  • How ‘pain in the legs’ led to Lagos socialite’s untimely death

For Olayinka Saheed Atiku, all roads lead to yonder. The high society socialite treads in heavy steps as you read, from the world of the living, into the land of the dead. After the initial mourning and gnashing of teeth, friends and family of the deceased have left him to whatever fate beckons down under.

Olayinka stays stretched out on pallets of mud, low down with the worm, the ant and whatever creatures lie with him, six feet under the earth.  On Saturday, April 8, 2017, the Lagos and London social circuits were cast in mourning. This was occasioned by the tragic death of Olayinka, one of Nigeria’s most prominent socialites, who died in Lagos.

The very handsome and sociable dude was the best friend Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom. The duo had been friends right from their primary school days in Lagos. A highly successful businessman, Atiku died in a hospital in Lagos, after he reportedly complained of pain in the legs.

We gathered that the personable Big Boy was driven to the hospital by one of his close friends, Oba Dosunmu, the Akinshiku of Lagos. Tragically, few hours after his arrival at the hospital, he was pronounced dead. Atiku is survived by his wife and children.
