Army Lieutenant, six others have been reportedly killed by Boko Haram fighters along the Yobe-Borno road.

The soldiers were ambushed at Kamuya village in Biu LGA of Borno state on Friday.

The soldiers were said to have been heading to Damaturu, Yobe state capital, to purchase petrol when the attack occurred.

Some of the soldiers who survived the ambush have been taken to a military facility for treatment.

Onyema Nwachukwu, spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, is yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident.

The attack adds to the growing list of killings of army personnel by insurgents and other criminal elements.

In March, 17 personnel — comprising a lieutenant colonel, two majors, one captain, and 13 soldiers — were killed while on a “peacekeeping mission” in Okuama, Bomadi LGA of Delta.

The army personnel were buried at the military cemetery in Abuja on March 27.
