Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, who addressed journalists after the meeting, confirmed that discussions were ongoing but that no final decision had been made
“It would be premature for anyone to speculate at this point. Consultations are still ongoing,” Uzodimma stated. According to him, the final say on Ganduje’s successor rests with the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
“This meeting was part of our regular consultations among governors and key stakeholders aimed at strengthening the party’s programmes and ensuring effective governance as the ruling party,” Uzodimma explained.
He also noted that the governors plan to meet again with President Tinubu prior to the NEC session
“Thursday by 2 p.m., the NEC of our great party will convene to discuss matters crucial to the future of the APC and, more importantly, how best to serve Nigerians,” he added.
Recall that Ganduje had stepped down from the chairmanship role citing health-related reasons
