Death stole stealthily into the home of the very connected businessman, Jide Coker, and left with his beloved mother, Mrs Virginia Obafunke Coker. The old woman passed November 1st. Her death came a little over five years after losing her husband, Chief Henry Theodore Okeade Coker, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), former chairman of Citi Trust Merchant Bank from inception till 1995 and Chairman of HOESCH Pipe Mills.

But rather than sorrow at her demise, the Coker family has accepted their matriarch’s death with equanimity and are thankful to God for the impactful life that she lived. Burial rites have yet to be announced by the family but trust Jide, a redoubtable socialite, the burial ceremonies would linger in the minds of attendees for a long time to come.

Jide is married to Sola, the first daughter of veteran auto magnate, Chief Sunny Asemota of Sunny Motors and Omoregie Motors. He counts among his close friends, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Governor Liyel Imoke, Tunde Folawiyo, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and Kola Abiola among others. Apart from his strong socio-economic and political connections, Jide is also financially solid and he knows those who matter where it matters.
