The Hausa film industry has been thrown into mourning following the demise of veteran Kannywood actress, Wasila Isma’il.

Naija News learnt that the actress died at the age of 46 after battling with a prolonged illness.

According to Daily Post, Wasila’s husband, Al-Amin Chiroma, confirmed her death in a social media post on Sunday.

Al-Amin said the thespian died at the FOMWAN Hospital in Kaduna.

The movie star, who was born in Kaduna, began her acting career in 1998 with the film Jinin Masoya.

The deceased was widely known for her roles in Hausa films and rose to prominence after starring in the 1999 film Wasila, directed by Yakubu Lere alongside Ali Nuhu.

Fans and colleagues have since taken to social media to mourn and praise her contributions to the Kannywood film industry.

In other news, veteran actor, Dele Odule, has opened up on a difficult phase in his early life when he almost made a very painful decision due to deep frustration and financial hardship.

In an interview with Punch, the thespian explained that the period came when he was still in his late twenties and struggling to survive.

According to him, things became so difficult that he could not afford basic meals, and people around him judged him harshly. Many believed he had left a stable teaching job for an uncertain acting career, which added to the pressure he was already facing.

Odule said the situation pushed him to a very low point, leaving him overwhelmed and helpless. He noted that the stress became so heavy that he even thought of ending his life and had gone as far as considering buying a coffin. He said this was the lowest moment of his life, driven by hunger, disappointment, and lack of support.
