Two Nigerian brothers- One of who had just returned from the United Kingdom, were rammed into by a trailer at a fuel queue on Otedola bridge in Lagos.

PUNCH reports that the brother (now identified as Oluwole Giwa) died on the spot while the yet-to-be-identified UK returnee survived with terrifying injuries and is currently on admission at a Lagos hospital.

According to reports, they were sitting on a fuel queue when the trailer, which had lost control of its brakes, rammed into their Toyota Hilux and other vehicles.

Confirming the sad incident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said, the trailer “tried to hit the median, but it could not hold the truck, so it rammed into a queue of motorists waiting to buy fuel at a filling station. It hit 10 vehicles in the queue. But the victims, who were in a blue Toyota Hilux truck, were badly crushed. The driver died on the spot, while the passenger, who happened to be the driver’s brother, escaped with injuries.”

Further reports say the younger brother had gone to pick the elder from the airport, and on their way home, decided to stop at a station and queue for fuel.

The deceased was extricated after the crumbled car was sawed off, and the corpse taken away by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
