The Lagos State government on Wednesday, January 8, confirmed that a nursery school teacher, Stella Nwadigo of the Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu has been arrested.
Nwadigo was said to have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Domèstic and Sexùal Violènce Agency after she was captured in a viral video slapping a three-year-old boy for failing to do well in a classroom assignment.
Oyindamola in the video which was said on X, “Footage from Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, a teacher named Stella Nwadigo was witnessed mistreating and physically abùsing a three-year-old boy, Abayomi Micheal.” …CONTINUE READING
The action by the teacher in the video caused an outrage among Nigerians on social media with many calling for the teacher’s arrest and closure of the school.
However, a swift moved, LDSVA on it X account commended Nigerians for bringing such action by the teacher to the agency’s attention.
It said, ““We appreciate everyone who brought the disturbing incident of a teacher who was recorded physically abusing a 3-year-old boy to our attention.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher in question has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and an investigation has commenced in earnest,” LDSVA said.
The agency further reassured Nigerians of its commitment to protecting the right of every child and providing a nurturing environment for all children across the country
