Mass defection hits APC… Is PDP bouncing back already?

• How over 7, 000 APC member defected to PDP in Benue and Rivers within 3 days

Some APC members of the Benue State chapter has again thrown their pillar behind the PDP by the defection of 7, 000 member to the opposition, PDP, after the recent defection by some members of the APC in Rivers State after Wike election was upheld by the Supreme Court.

According to report, the APC defectors left the party for PDP in order to support the aspiration and wishes of the people of Idoma, especially for the re-election bid of the former senate president, David Mark.

The director general of the David Mark re-election campaign organisation, Abba Moro, who received the defectors, hailed the people of the area for their consistent support of the PDP.

“What over 7,000 of you have done today in Otukpa clearly shows that those who recently left the PDP after riding on the crest of the party and the goodwill of Senator David Mark are standing alone even in their own localities.

“The coming rerun election will be an opportunity for all Idoma sons and daughters to move against the wicked plot of some external forces to demean our people.

“It will also be a better platform for us to publicly demonstrate our unalloyed support to a course that holds a better prospect for our people in general”.

It can be recalled the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state, Felix Obuah made a statement on the 31st, Jan. 2016 in which he promised the return of the PDP party and also the welcome back of the PDP defectors who abandoned the party when in crisis according to him, “we will welcome them like the father of the prodigal son”.

However, as predicted, prior to the Benue State mass defection to PDP, there was a mass defection of APC members to the PDP. According to the Chairman, “The mass defection of APC members into the PDP in less than five days after the Supreme Court judgment is unprecedented. The PDP would not only give the returning members a befitting reception, but would also carry them along in the scheme of things. Like the father of the prodigal son, the PDP will accept them back and carry them along.”

Could it be that the promises made by the Peoples Democratic Party to bounce back is already happening? Time will tell as we keep watch on the both parties next move.
