The cool kindliness of silk, that smoothens away trouble and allays fears was all he sought but when Segun Abraham encountered Senator Remi Tinubu few days ago, she gave him the rough, sandy kiss of the foot mat.

Abraham who recently declared his intention to run for Ondo State’s governorship seat, had a feel of his party chieftains’ view of his intention courtesy Senator Remi’s outburst on sighting him at Sunday Dare’s 50th birthday party.

Senator Remi and her husband, two-time governor of Lagos State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, were attending Dare’s golden jubilee when she encountered Abraham and his entourage at the event.

Instantly, she launched a barrage against Abraham telling him very frankly that he (Abraham) would never earn the APC’s governorship ticket of the state.

She advised him to stop wasting his time and money on certain party chieftains who were only interested in fleecing him off his hard-earned money. Remi allegedly told Abraham that since his initial interest in the governorship seat few years ago, he disappeared from the scene.

Nobody knew his whereabouts or what he had been up to thus she told Abraham matter-of-factly that he would never emerge as the APC’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections. She told him that the party had settled for Senator Robert Ajayi Boroffice.

According to her, the latter had won the hearts and goodwill of the party’s elders by his unflinching devotion and commitment to the progress of the party. Senator Remi stated categorically that Boroffice would be the next governor of Ondo State.

Predictably, Abraham was flustered and very embarrassed at the public display of contempt against him by Senator Remi.

Sources close to the governorship aspirant disclosed that he was even more upset by Asiwaju Tinubu’s failure to intervene and caution his wife while she insulted him in a public spectacle. The APC bigwig simply looked the other way while his wife lambasted Abraham and publicly derided his gubernatorial ambition.

Prominent APC chieftains and godfathers to Abraham lament the public ridicule heaped onhim by Senator Remi. According to them, Tinubu ought to have cautioned her. It was in nobody’s best interest that she treated one of Ondo’ s illustrious sons with disrespect.
