Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has faced criticism for his remarks directed at President Bola Tinubu, following his exclusion from the current administration.
Recalls, Rufai’s name had emerged in the first batch of 28 nominees forwarded to the National Assembly for approval on July 27, 2023.

El-Rufai, a founding member of the ruling APC, was initially anticipated to be among Tinubu’s most influential cabinet members; however, his nomination was subsequently declined by the senate.
The source said: “He was forming mini government before he was announced as minister, he was already feeling like a god, and it is his people that warned Tinubu never to allow the man be part of his government.”

Tinubu Was Never My Friend, We Weren’t Close – El-Rufai
According to him, during the 2022 presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, he was indifferent on the choice of candidate.
According to him, his only concern was for a Southerner to emerge as the party’s flagbearer, stressing that whoever the South presented didn’t matter.
He said, “I was indifferent on who became the presidential candidate of APC.
“The only thing I was determined to do was to stop a Northerner from becoming the candidate of the party based on what I know.
“When we formed the party in 2013, we agreed that after Buhari’s 8 years, power will go to the South.
“Tinubu was never my friend, we weren’t close”.
