The Nasarawa State Judiciary is mourning the loss of Hon. Justice Tanze Benjamin Makama, a newly appointed Judge of the High Court of Justice, who passed away on March 5, 2024.

Justice Makama’s death comes as a shock to the legal community, as he had only recently taken office in December 2023.

According to sources close to the family, Justice Makama had been battling a brief illness prior to his passing. The exact nature of the illness and cause of death have not been disclosed at this time.

Justice Makama’s appointment to the High Court of Justice Nasarawa State Judiciary on December 29, 2023, was a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the legal profession. Throughout his career, he demonstrated a deep commitment to upholding the rule of law and serving the people of Nasarawa State with integrity and fairness.

Additionally, before his elevation to the bench, Justice Makama was a former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lafia branch and an NBA National Executive Committee (NEC) member by that position. His leadership roles within the NBA further highlight his dedication to the legal profession and his commitment to serving his colleagues and the community.
