Schoolchildren Abductions: US Senate Threatens Nigerian Government Again

The United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee has vowed to hold the Nigerian government accountable for failing to protect its citizens from terrorists.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Jim Risch made the remark in a post on the Committee’s verified X handle.

According to him, the Nigerian government has failed to protect schoolchildren from the jihadist terrorists causing mayhem in many parts of the country.

He said, “Nigeria has long failed to protect its schoolchildren from jihadist and criminal abductions, and little has changed. Students, especially girls, remain targets for enslavement, conversion, and ransom.

“As the U.S. engages the Nigerian government on the persecution of its most vulnerable citizens, we will continue to hold them accountable”.

This is coming barely 48 hours after about 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped by terrorists from a government college in Kebby State.

The terrorists had on Monday invaded the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, GGCSS, Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebby State, killed the principal and whisked the schoolgirls away to unknown destination.
