Stella Odimegwu had better watch it!

Wife of former Nigerian Breweries boss, Festus Odimegwu, descends into dangerous ecstasy over his ministerial nomination
Why she needs to keep a low profile
festus odimegwuConceit is the finest armour the poseur can wear; on a woman, it looks rather gaudy and symbolic of the fowl who thinks the sun continually rises to hear it cackle every day. Such vanity despoils the person of Stella, wife Festus Odimegwu, former Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Limited (NBL), and now a ministerial nominee. Until her husband earned the favour of President Muhammadu Buhari, Stella languished in socio-political obscurity; this was because her husband was forced to quit the political scene after a botched gig or political appointment with the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Stella brims with excitement over her husband’s new found fortune with President Buhari; so exhilarated is she that she recklessly waddles into the murky waters of ostentation and unrestrained egotism. Stella bears a haughty disposition even as you read, parading herself as the wife of a minister-in-waiting. There is no gainsaying the notable socialite is ready to make a grand and very noisy entrance back into the social arena after a long hiatus from the scene but Stella needs to watch it as President Buhari who her husband is billed to serve with, is notable for his distaste for garishness and ostentatious politics. Stella allegedly seeks to exploit their new found fortune to the hilt unlike their first shot at the executive cabinet when her husband served as the Chairman, National Population Commission (NPC) with former President Jonathan. Back in the days when her husband was NBL boss, the couple attracted friends and well-wishers to themselves like honey attracts bees. Their house was a Mecca of sort for sycophants, lobbyists and favour seekers. However, things turned awry when Festus was retired. As if that was not enough, his political clout atrophied significantly. Now, the bad times are over for the merry couple. In fact, a grand party might be on the way to welcome Stella back into the high society fold. And if feelers reaching us are to be believed, there might be advertorials in major newspapers to congratulate her husband. Let’s hope the Odimegwu’s will tame their lust for acclaim this time around before it boomerangs.
