• As the gubernatorial race intensifies, Ondo North senator leverages on political godmother’s clout to emerge APC candidate

A bull has the greatest influence on its own dunghill. In the same vein, a covetous politician seeks power where his name and his deeds excite the loudest cheer. Little wonder Prof. Roberts Ajayi Boroffice, former academic and senator of Ondo North constituency, carves his path to power the aided by the blade of a sturdy benefactress.

Boroffice intends to become the Governor of Ondo state. The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain has finally learnt his lesson; unlike before when he aspired to power, instead of influence, and as a result forfeited both, he currently seeks his path to the Ondo state Government House by leveraging on the influence of Senator Remi Tinubu, wife of APC leader and two-time former Governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

It would be recalled that Boroffice failed in his previous play for the number one political office of Ondo state. The re-elected Senator representing Ondo North in the National Assembly, stepped down for Rotimi Akeredolu in 2012. But he is currently one of the frontline leaders in the race for the APC 2016 governorship ticket.

To actualise his ambition, the senator has sought the assistance of Senator Remi Tinubu who has reportedly given her word to him that he would become the next governor of Ondo state. Emboldened by Remi a.k.a Lioness of Bourdillion’s support, Boroffice is allegedly spreading the news of his anointment for Ondo’s number one political office by the powers that be in the APC.

According to him, with Remi Tinubu’s help, nothing and no power bloc can stop him from emerging as APC’s official candidate at the forthcoming governorship elections in Ondo.
Boroffice was born on April 23, 1949 in Oka-Akoko, Ondo. He became a lecturer at the University of Ibadan in 1975, and Professor of Zoology at the Lagos State University in 1986. He has conducted research at the post-doctoral level in the areas of human congenital malformations, carcinogenesis and mutagenesis. He also held administrative positions at the Lagos State University including

Barring any last minute change in his plans, Boroffice, according to sources within the APC, would emerge as APC’s candidate at the forthcoming governorship elections in Ondo. His closeness to Senator Remi Tinubu  may work in his favour, according to the sources.
