Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan, as a stampede occurred during a children’s Christmas party, resulting in the deaths of several children.
The party was organized by Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, led by Oriyomi Hamzat, in collaboration with Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife.

Some attendees reportedly camped overnight at the venue, responding to publicity from a popular Ibadan-based radio station.
Eyewitnesses told the BBC that the stampede began shortly after the program started, as the overwhelming crowd struggled for space. Conflicting reports suggest that the death toll may be higher, with some claiming four children lost their lives. However, the BBC has not independently verified this.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
