Osun State Government has again reiterated its decision to retrieve government vehicles allegedly taken away by the administration of Adegboyega Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

The Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, stated this at the government office, Osogbo, during a press conference organised by the Asset Recovery Committee set up by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Noting that the government is not witch-hunting the past administration, Igbalaye said everything would be done through legal means.

He said, “What is germane to the government is to recover any properties illegally carted away to serve as a deterrent to other administrations that are coming on board.

“Whatever the method used to recover this asset will be within the rule of law. Our governor is a man of due process and a man of rule of law. We have to do everything within the armpit of law for us to recover the assets.

“We are almost done with the number of vehicles carted away, and we are still expecting local government reports before the end of this week.

“We are not here to witch-hunt anybody, but what we are here for is to recover government assets and vehicles.

“The approval needs to come from Mr Governor because he has the power to do so and for him to do so, he has to follow due process and must be approved by the Excos,” Igbalaye said.
