Appearing on the popular YouTube programme ABTalks, hosted by Anas Bukhash, Hakimi candidly discussed his controversial decision, confirming that it had nothing to do with his marriage or subsequent divorce.

Hakimi was quick to dispel the speculation that his actions were tied to protecting his assets from his ex-wife.
“No! This has nothing to do with marriage, because as I said it was always that way since childhood.
“Even when you’re 18 years old you can’t use your bank account. So my mother controlled everything and because everything was good….we left things as they were, especially when my success increased.
“She controlled everything and we used to tell her everything,” Hakimi explained.
Hakimi details his lifelong trust in his mother
Hakimi revealed that his mother had been managing his finances from an early age, a system that worked well for him as his career skyrocketed.
“The fact is since I was young, I earned so much money from football…but I couldn’t manage it.
“So my mother managed all that. So, I learned from her how I can manage these things.
“I always take her opinion about money when I buy a house or a car or when I earn a lot of money.
“And that’s why we also decided that she won’t return to work. She was the one who managed everything.”

For Hakimi, the decision goes beyond financial management—it’s about trust and love.
He said:
“I think that’s a nice thing, because in the end, when you have money or fame, you can only trust few people.
“And I think that your mother is the only person that loves you truly, whether you have money or not.
“And I think that when you have money, your mother will save it for you so you can always have this money….”
The Moroccan star added, “And I also think she won’t try to steal from you ever! Because that’s something you both earned together.
“Technically your money is hers because when she used to work and earn money, she gave you from that money and until this moment, my mother wants the best for me.
“She will never wish harm upon me or upon my siblings or the family so she is the person I can trust and can help me besides my siblings.”

While the report of the wealth transfer dominated the headlines, it was reported that Mouh denied having any knowledge of her son’s actions.
