In the name of the father…Segun Awolowo preps for governor

Ambition, it is said, is a great man’s madness, but Segun Awolowo, the grandson of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, begs to differ. The brilliant man seeks to affect no madness; he only seeks to serve his people in Ogun State in more appreciable capacities.

The social barometer is flailing wildly as you read. In twos and threes and more, it is being discussed in hushed tones and sometimes overtly that Segun is more than ready to contest in 2019. He intends to become the state governor, according to the news doing the rounds.

To achieve his dream, his loyalists have embarked on a rigorous underground campaign to touch the nooks and crannies of Ogun state to intimate the people with his ambition. Segun is entitled to his ambition, but let’s hope he would make accountability his watchword if he gets the ticket eventually.

Segun is reportedly banking on the his family  name and his brother in-law, VP Yemi Osibajo. But among the ruling class of Ogun state in particular, many believe that the governorship position should be held by a candidate who is man enough to dig a fresh fount, not the one who continually draws from estuaries dug by his father or grandfather as the case may be.

To those who think that Segun would fall victim of political fraud by persuading him to part with his  money, this would interest them. Segun is a hard nut to crack when it comes to spending freely. Segun is very wary of politicians who would want to turn him to their ATM machine. We hear he is trying to be very careful because of the fear of what awaits him if the juggernauts of Ogun politics are not favourably disposed to his candidacy.
