The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) appears to have uncovered some duplexes numbering about 40 belonging to the embattled Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

The duplexes are said to be situated opposite the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu.

Moreso, the anti-graft agency, has traced other 57 properties situated at different location in Agege area of the state.

A source at the Commission told our reporter on Sunday, that the EFCC had already investigated and discovered all the houses both the ones in Ikorodu and Agege were bought through a proxy, whose name was given as Kazeem.

“We have investigated and we have been able to identify all those properties, the ones in Agege and Ikorodu, we have pictures of all of them.

“Also, Kazeem, the man who bought all the houses on Speaker’s behalf, has confessed that the Speaker owns all the House and we have the records of all the transfers made to him by the Speaker.

“We are also aware that the Speaker sent some money in cash to Kazeem through Baruwa, his Personal Assistant, to pay off some of the owners of those properties,” the source said.

The Speaker, the source said was expected to come and answer some questions relating to those properties on Friday but he suddenly took ill.

“We couldn’t do anything because he felt ill and we had to let him go and treat himself so that he could return on Monday. We are expecting him tomorrow to come and explain how he was able to buy those number of houses,” the source added.

It was also learnt that the Speaker took a particular drug, which triggers hypertension and that resulted in what happened at the EFCC office on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Thepledge learnt, has began moves to avoid an impending impeachment.

It was learnt that some members are piqued with the Speaker’s style of leadership owing to the grievous allegations of corruption levelled against him.

But sensing that some of the members may move against him, Obasa, Thepledge learnt, has met with members close to him to arrange another motion of vote of confidence to be passed on him this week to thwart any impeachment move.
