A fresh wave of political realignment swept through Lagos on Saturday as prominent lawmakers and political figures officially announced their decision to join the NDC, signaling a major shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of future elections.

Among those who declared for the party are Lagos lawmakers Thaddeus Attah, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, George Olwande, and Jese Onuakalusi. The politicians were received by party leaders and supporters during a gathering attended by stakeholders from across the state.

Speaking at the event, the lawmakers said their decision was driven by the need to promote inclusive governance, strengthen democratic values, and provide what they described as “a people-focused political direction” for Lagos residents.

Thaddeus Attah noted that the move represents a commitment to grassroots development and stronger representation for constituents, while Oluwaseyi Sowunmi emphasized the importance of unity and youth participation in governance.

George Olwande described the development as a “new chapter” for progressive politics in Lagos, expressing confidence that the NDC would continue to attract more supporters in the coming months. Jese Onuakalusi also called on residents to support policies aimed at economic growth, security, and improved public welfare.

Party leaders welcomed the lawmakers into the NDC, describing their defection as a boost to the party’s growing influence in Lagos politics. Supporters at the event celebrated the announcement, chanting party slogans and expressing optimism about the future of the movement.

Political observers say the latest development could reshape alliances within Lagos and intensify political activities as parties prepare for upcoming electoral contests.
