* Why his son, Aminu, the Vice Chairman of Unity Bank has refused to marry

Yes, General Ibrahim Babangida, the former Military President, will pull all the stops to honour his daughter, Halima, who was born when he was in power, with a grand wedding ceremony, tomorrow, Friday.

IBB, known for his unabashed classiness and penchant to play the infallible host anytime the occasion calls for it has decided to treat his daughter with an unforgettable wedding ceremony. Thus as you read, there is excitement in the house of Babangida in Minna and palpable exhilaration amongst the citizenry in the State.

Interestingly, there is unprecedented thrill in the socio-political arena too. Nigeria’s circle of the filthy rich is agog like medieval Rome in the throes of Caesar’s wedding party.

Halimat is the second daughter and last child of the family. She was born by his late wife Maryam while the military ruler presided over the affairs of the country at Dodan Barracks in Lagos. The groom is Alhaji Auwal Lawal Abdullahi, who holds the traditional title of Sarkin Sudan Gombe. He is a businessman.

All arrangements have been concluded for the wedding and invitations sent to prominent Nigerians, across the country. The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the wedding prayers will take place at the Hilltop Villa of the former military President Minna by 2.30 pm.

The reception would take place at Justice Legbo Kutigi conference center, and the El Amin School, which will hold a spill-over reception and the residence of the former President. It promises to be a grand ceremony.

However, that Aminu Babangida, the second son of Babangida, who is also the Vice President of Unity Bank, is an abundantly blessed dude whose profile has been on the rise in recent times is no secret. But that he seems to have chosen a life of perpetual bachelorhood is a persistent cause for worry by his family, friends and business associates.

Aminu, the younger brother of Mohammed Babangida, is endowed with everything that could make any young woman fall head over heels in love with him. Yet despite his undeniable appeal, he seems to be beating a perpetual retreat from the aisle, to the consternation of his family and friends.

This, we learnt, might not be unconnected to his elitist disposition, which tends to overwhelm many ladies and make some quibble even as they ironically crave for his undivided love and attention. At his age, Aminu is well-heeled and sociable; the dark-hued dude has many ladies skulking for his attention.

And he never denies them anything from the abundance of his material and more importantly, physical endowments. Now, his friends are seriously putting him under pressure to settle down, after all age is not on his side anymore and all his younger ones are married.
