A well-known Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has reportedly issued a new ultimatum targeting notorious herders involved in kidnapping and robbery across the South West zone.

This latest directive was conveyed through an audio message by his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, although its authenticity remains unconfirmed.

According to a resident speaking to Vanguard, these criminal activities have severely disrupted farming activities, heightening tensions in the region.

Previously, Igboho had issued warnings to these herders to vacate the area. He has also proposed the formation of local security groups to safeguard farmers against ongoing intimidation and violence.

In the audio message delivered in Yoruba, Koiki stated, “Today is July 15, 2024, and at approximately 6 pm, this breaking news is being announced. All Fulani individuals residing in the Oke Ogun region, living within the forests there, who are involved in kidnapping and murdering people, are hereby ordered to leave immediately. Sunday Igboho has pledged to continue his efforts in Oke-Ogun, particularly in Kishi and all the communities within Oke-Ogun. He intends to address all these remaining areas.

“All Fulanis must vacate the forests in Oke Ogun. The forests do not belong to you; the land belongs to us. Igboho also mentioned that he is awaiting responses from the traditional rulers in other parts of Yorubaland if they are witnessing attacks by Fulani people in their territories.”

In the audio, Igboho clarified that his actions are not against any Governor but are aimed at tackling the herders who are causing trouble for his people in the region.

He also mentioned plans for his supporters to comb through forests currently occupied by herders across Yorubaland, following consultations with monarchs in Ondo, Ogun, Ekiti, and Osun states.

He stated that his supporters “are currently strategizing on how to enter the forests in Oke Ogun, Oyo State, and warn all Fulani residents to vacate immediately.”
