Royal Intervention! How Awujale of Ijebu settled the rift between President Buhari and Bola Tinubu

• Why Mr. President appointed Tinubu’s men

There is no gainsaying Bola Tinubu’s influence; be it in politics or the country’s business circuit, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), looms large in the nation’s psyche, as the galaxy’s Milky Way above stratus-cumulus clouds. As the clouds and blue expanse of the skies arouse questions about their vastness in every curious heart, Bola Tinubu provokes inquiry and endless streams of speculations about the limits and otherwise of his affluence.

At the backdrop of claims and counter-claims about the vastness and quality of his character and political affluence, fresh rumours emerge to buttress claims of the invincibility and influence of the two-time governor of Lagos. The storm is over between President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Bola Tinubu. Ill wind has deserted the midst of the two prominent leaders of Nigeria’s ruling party, like evil mist at the searing blaze of celestial light. Rabble rousers may hold their peace now; Buhari will woo Tinubu.

Finally, Mr. President has decided to curry the favour of the two-time governor of Lagos State and national leader of APC by appointing his men into his cabinet. Some days ago, Buhari appointed Tinubu’s media aide, Sunday Dare as was named as Executive Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, and Wale Edun as the chairman the Governing Council and the Board of Trustees of the Trust Fund for the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), also he nominated and installed Tokunbo Abiru as the new MD of SkyeBank.

You couldn’t have forgotten so soon when Buhari recently appointed Tinubu’s man friday, Pius Akinyelure, as a member of the newly constituted board of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Prior to Tinubi’s man, Pius’ appointment on to the board, mischief makers alleged that Tinubu felt betrayed and unhappy with President Buhari who allegedly ignored most of his suggestions and nominations into key public offices in the country.President Buhari allegedly listened to the advice of aides and advisers who needed him to be at loggerheads with Tinubu due to their fear of the APC leader’s rising and very intimidating profile.

However, Buhari is reportedly doing a cartwheel and reconsidering mending fences with Tinubu because he believes he would still need the APC boss by the time he vies for a second term in office. Thus his recent appointment of Tinubu’s men. HighLife gathered that Awujale of Ijebu, Oba Sikiru Adetona settled the perceived beef between Tinubu and Buhari. Tinubu was also angry because of Kayode Fayemi and Babatunde Fashola who allegedly cast morality and decency to the winds to enact lethal deeds of treachery and deceit against the person and political empire of Asiwaju Tinubu, the man variously regarded as the author and progenitor of their political and economic fortune.

The duo chose to challenge the influence of their benefactor by rebelling against him to sate their abject lust for power and political independence.
